LHD (load, haul, dump) loaders are similar to traditional front end loaders, but have been developed for the most demanding hard rock mining applications with overall production economics, safety and reliability in mind. They are extremely durable, maneuverable and highly productive. More than 75% of the world's underground metal mines use LHD to process the muck they excavate.
The LHD features a powerful prime mover, advanced transmission system technology, heavy-duty planetary shafts, four-wheel drive, articulated steering and ergonomic controls. Their narrower, longer and lower profiles make them best suited for underground applications with limited height and width. Since the length is not limited by the tunnel and drop, the LHD loader is designed with sufficient length. The length improves axial weight distribution, which increases bucket capacity. Two-part construction with a central joint facilitates tracking and maneuverability. In the mining industry, there are restrictions on the movement of heavy equipment, and sometimes LHDs must be moved through shafts for demolition.
